Oh, ya, about my license. Yeah! MY license! Such a nice thing to get when you're my age. Freedom!! Now I have the power of the steering wheel!!
Ok, lets savour the celebration for the last.. Hmm.. Let me tell you how I got my license...
Of course, as a desperate person I am, I had taken the "undang" test end of last last year. Fortunately I passed. If not would have been laughed at by my friends.
So after the glorious day of 12th Jan, I quickly signed myself up for the license taking course. That is, of course, the "practical" of car driving.
Wait, let me introduce you to my driving instructor, Mr Yong. Old man with a mixture of black and white hair ( mostly white hair.. haha) , my size. OH!! And his favourite phrase- not "you drove well today", "keep it up" or "good job"... but-- "nia gong". Ahem!! Direct translation- " your grandfather".. Hahaha... Funny old man..
Well, of course, he used his "favourite phrase" most of the time while teaching me. But not in an angry way, but rather jokingly. It's like "nia gong, 你不懂什么是左啊?!" Hahah.. There's still some famously ones- "nia gong 你啊, 你在家里没有练脚是吗? 等下你 fail 了你就知道!" " nia gong 你啊, 在家里没有练习啦, 现在什么都忘记了, 白费我的心机。" "nia gong, 你老实跟我讲,你在家里是不是真的有练习?" Haahaahaha... Of course, I ENJOY hearing speaking those funny comments. Believe my, he's real funny. I'd always laugh along the way.
Well, of course the journey to getting a license is not that all interesting anyway. But my road to getting one was funny. Well, of course, my driving instructor being the usual joker, and making fun of me.
Oh ya, talking about me not knowing how to turn left. Well, here's a funny story to tell.
It was like the day before my driving test. And knowing that, dear old Mr Yong gave me extra hours of driving his cute little Perodua Viva. There are like 2 more students in the driving range. One a girl who is in the same school with me (Foon Yew High School) and the other a complete stranger. Well I didn't know the girl too of course.
Well, I was not the best driver. And I had some problems with the 3-point turn. So, I practised. Then being so free, my Mr Yong went to teach that girl the 3-point turn which she haven't mastered yet. After being taught, she mastered it! And man, was that old man noisy.
He yelled to me. "喂! 你看人家几厉害?! 一教就会! 你叻?! 教了酱旧都还不会. 学一下人家啦! 你还是男的叻!" I was completely embarrassed. I looked at the girl and didn't know how to react of course. Then... "你看? 人家学多快! 你刚刚还左右不分啊!" Er, I actually know that. I just mistimed a turn at the junction there. That old man. I was going to smack him, and then... "你看?!?!? 你的同学多么厉害, 为校争光!! 你呢?! 败坏学校名誉! 宽中多一点像你酱的学生就残了咯!" That old man sure did enjoy picking on me. It was real embarrassing.
But I did get back at him, the next day. Because I passed my driving test!!! Yeah!!! Passed the test in one try, unlike some friends... Victory is mine!! But hey, thanks old man for teaching me. Real fun working with you. Oh ya, thanks my dear Mr "nia gong".

this is me and my driving instructor. took it the night he
drove to give me my driving license. he was so desperate to give me my driving license ;)
